Disaster Response Strategy
Events like Hurricane Harvey or Covid-19 placed us in extremely unfamiliar situations that rocked our businesses and personal lives to the core. These situations are so unprecedented that we cannot rely on past heuristics or rules of thumb to guide our forward actions. Making quality decisions quickly is extremely challenging, given the general lack of information, the plethora of decisions to be made, and the uncertainty of how events will play out. What immediate actions should we take? Who should be involved, and how should we phase our recovery efforts? What are the tradeoffs associated with different recovery strategies? How should you prepare for possible future disasters?
Possible examples include:
- First-order, immediate response strategy
- Long-term recovery strategy
- Organizational optimization strategy
- Identification of key objectives and tradeoffs of various strategies
