DTrio Course
Overview
The DTrio course is a one day course designed to reinforce existing decision framing and uncertainty analysis skills by focusing on how to use the DTrio software. Users, operating in a hands-on manner, walk through a case example over the course of an entire day. They learn how to use DTrio to gather issues, frame decision problems, build strategy tables, compare and contrast options, gather uncertainty data and use tornados, trees and cumulative probabilities to evaluate your alternatives.
Development Package
Each participant is expected to bring a laptop to class loaded with a copy of DTrio. If you do not have a copy of the software, we will supply you with an evaluation license for your laptop for the duration of the class. This course is designed for those already familiar with decision analysis or those of you who may have previously taken one of our courses. If your basic skills need deeper development, the Value of Information, Decision Framing for Project Management or Frame N’ Go courses may be the best options for you.
Course Outline
The one-day course follows Decision Frameworks proven methodology of dividing instruction equally among framing, analysis, and communication.
Day 1 Morning – This session reminds attendees of the decision analysis process. It also focuses on the installation and licensing of the software.- An overview of the software provides an overall understanding of the tools and templates included in the DTrio package. Attendees become more familiar with the software through working with a class example through the decision framing and strategy table steps.
Day 1 Afternoon – After lunch, the class turns its attention to the data gathering steps. Attendees learn to use the expert interviewing templates and the input data table. In addition, they concentrate on building tornados, trees and cumulative probability curves. The course finishes up with a review of the insights that can be gleaned from using these skills.
