From 1993 to 1999, Ellen Coopersmith led one of the oil industry's most successful implementations of Decision Analysis (DA) for Conoco.
Supported by exceptional executive championship, she established an internal force of over one hundred well-versed part and full time decision consultants. In the course of the venture, she trained over 2000 professionals and guided innumerable corporate decisions.
Based on this experience, Ellen envisioned a broader application; the ingraining of (DA) into any organization, to be practiced by professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds.
To address this vision, Ellen established Decision Frameworks in 1999, with a specific mission to introduce (DA) to the energy industry as a whole. The mission was subsequently extended to include the pharmaceutical industry and has now moved into other sectors, as well.
In 2003, Kent Burkholder joined Decision Frameworks from Schlumberger; a world renowned oilfield service company and Merak Projects (a Schlumberger Company), one of the world's leading petroleum economic software companies.
Kent's extensive expertise in petroleum engineering, economics and software crystallized into a plan to develop supporting technology into a commercial software suite. Jan Schulze and Jeremy Walker, also from Schlumberger and Merak Projects, joined Decision Frameworks in 2005 as key members of this venture. Jan leads the Decision Quality Software development (DTrio®, TreeTop®, and OWL®). An award-winning software developer, Jan is also a Decision Analysis practitioner and consultant. Jeremy Walker leads the Decision Frameworks business strategy, development, and marketing efforts. Jeremy is a former partner in Merak Projects and was a general manager of Schlumberger's IndigoPool, an acquisition and divestiture company.
